About
It all began back in 1982.
My dad bought a Commodore 64 and told me it was not a toy and I was not to touch it! I immediately taught myself basic saving my programs to tape because the 1541 disk drive had not arrived yet! This early introduction to computers ignited a passion that has fueled my 26-year Information Technology career as well as my interest in gaming.
Working at Showbiz Pizza Place in high school immersed me in arcade and pinball bliss and the mix of working in a fun center and being surrounded by all the lights and sounds planted a seed. Brady Distributing, a local arcade game distributor used our Showbiz location as a "test location" to determine public interest in machine titles so they could determine how many of which title to order and stock. The variety and frequency of new games to play was incredible. In the 38 years since, I have bought and sold many machines, rotating and tweaking my personal arcade collection.
After graduating from college in Hospitality Management / Business in 1996, I returned to Charlotte where I have been an IT pro for over 26 years. During this time I purchased and built a couple rental homes. Fast forward to 2017, Charlotteforless.com , a website showcasing our four extended stay Airbnb rentals was born.
Over the years, we have rented literally thousands of nights to extended stay guests coming to Charlotte for all kinds of reasons. Perhaps that early arcade operational experience mixed with my love for these classic games has led me down this path. From classics like Addams Family, High Speed and Whirlwind to modern gems such as the Cactus Canyon and Elwin's Godzilla Pro, each machine represents not just a game, but a piece of gaming history that I cherish and enjoy sharing with others.
Recognizing the need for a unique niche in the Airbnb market in 2024, we began construction on the custom Pin-Shed for the collection late last year and completed it just after the first of this year! I aspire to build an arcade and pinball experience that caters to overnight stays as well as private parties and gatherings as well as tournaments; blending my passion for hospitality and arcade excitement creating memorable experiences for all who visit. Oh and pizza! Don't forget pizza!
